About This Quote

When you pick up a book, the first thing that catches your eye is the cover. Books are heavily marketed with attractive covers in what is called the “blurbs” (word used to describe marketing descriptions used on book covers). The marketing of books is so pervasive that it is often hard for us to take in the actual contents of the book when we first start looking at it. But once we do, we become hooked.

It's like when you look at the cover of a magazine and quickly turn to the back page to see if there is something more interesting that catches your eye. That's how we should approach reading as well. We should look at the cover and then take a look at what is actually inside of the book before making up our mind as to whether or not we want to read.
